Hey, I'm canonblind and just rubbernecking... why is this necessary?
Genshin Impact is a terrible nightmare gacha game, which I love dearly, and it's just kind of a pain in the ass to grab screencaps from it for a million reasons: there's no in-game screenshot button, the in-game camera feature sucks because it's a tool you have to activate from the menu, and there's no past cutscene replay, so most people have to cap the game off YouTube videos, which usually shows a noticeable drop in image quality even at 4K resolution. Also, the game features a lot of really fast-paced 1-minute cinematics which are just low quality to begin with (this is ostensibly to accommodate mobile players, but it's pretty annoying to cap). Honkai Star Rail basically has the same problems, give or take a few idiosyncracies. Zenless Zone Zero has cutscene replay, but I'm just insane.

Most iconmakers can work off YouTube caps just fine, since they get sized down to 100x100, but I just figured that since I was capping these games already, and people always ask for caps so that they can make icons, I might as well set something up to share my caps.

Do I need to credit you if I use your caps to make icons?
Nah, we're good. You can if you really want to, but it's hardly necessary. If you do make icons, though, feel free to link me to them! I'm not likely to use them myself, and you're free to mark your icons as DNT for any reason — I just think it would be fun to see that people used these caps!

Can I use these caps to commission or request icons from iconmakers on Dreamwidth?
Yep, fair game! I've probably already used some of these caps to commission icons for my friends.

I really want to RP a character I can't find icons for, but I've never made icons before...
Just crop your image to a square you find aesthetically pleasing, then size down to 100x100 and you should be fine! I am a big fan of custom color editing myself, but if you're not graphics-savvy enough to do that kind of thing, Genshin is already a very pretty game and making it prettier is just for fun. You may want to sharpen the image after you scale it down, and possibly adjust contrast for image readability. As far as programs go, I like to use PhotoScape X, which handles smoothly, crops stuff nicely, and also has an auto-contrast tool that tends to work well on Genshin shots... but I'm by no means an editing expert, so feel free to use what works best for you.

Hahaha. If you are truly, totally clueless, let me know what character you're interested in and I'll just make you a set of fifteen. Or I'll direct you to someone else who has already made icons of them! (I may have to refuse if I'm a bit busy, but it never hurts to ask.)

Do you have caps from the specific scene where...?
I do my best to try and cap every single scene from Genshin Impact, but sometimes this isn't possible, like if I'm traveling or something like that. For Honkai Star Rail, I'm a bit more lax about capping event stories, but will usually have capped all main story cutscenes. I don't actually have any caps that I didn't save here. I apologize!

Can I request a character?
Unfortunately, I don't have as much free time these days to replay these games on a side account, so what you see is what you get! But if you do feel like your fave doesn't have enough material in their folder, let me know and I might be able to conjure something up for you.

How often will this be updated?
You can expect me to update this roughly every patch, unless for some reason I stop playing Hoyoverse games. I probably won't do that, because at this point they own my soul.

Why are there three extra images in each folder?
It looks like this on my end and I think it's so cute... but it doesn't seem to show up like that for everyone else. Just think of it as a cute little preview of what you're gonna get... really, it's for me...

Do you have a tip jar?
I wasn't going to open up a tip jar originally, but since the archive is now large enough that I started paying for a Dropbox subscription to host it... I do have a Ko-fi and will happily accept Dreamwidth points, but it's not a big deal, so please don't feel pressured. I'm totally okay with a silly thank-you in the comments!

Wanted to share an update. I actually got Luocha and have guaranteed for Aventurine! I hope your rolls are going well and that you're doing well!

omg that's good to hear!! i caved a little and got e2 luocha LMAOOOO i think i'll stop there though unless i feel insane. (i'm always insane about luocha though.) but i'm gonna snag aventurine and his light cone for sure... we'll see what happens... i hope you enjoy your time in penacony though!! there's so much fun stuff to do!!
